BSH Kilgore, LLC

In early 2016 Bluestem Sandhills, LLC, the developer for Cherry County Wind, announced our BSH Kilgore project, a proposed 60 MW wind energy generation facilityvlocated southwest of Kilgore, Nebraska. Currently in the local permitting phase, BSH Kilgore commenced meteorological data collection in 2013. From 2013 to early 2016 a thorough environmental review and assessment was completed on the Kilgore site. The developer has completed extensive environmental studies and review of the site, working in close cooperation with USFWS and Nebraska Game & Parks.

Project Benefits

BSH Kilgore is expected to generate approximately $108 million of investment into the local community. It is also expected to generate approximately $397,560 in property taxes annually, roughly $286,200 of which will be distributed to local schools. Over the life of the project this would total nearly $12,000,000 in new property tax revenue with over $8,500,000 going to local schools. Additionally, Cherry County Wind will deposit 5% of all landowner revenues into a trust for local public improvement projects, generating approximately $15,000 for the trust annually.

During the construction phase the project is expected to employ approximately 100 full time workers. Maintenance and operation of the project is expected to require 3-4 full time employees for a minimum of 20 years from in-service date.
